Simple Solutions = Good Evenings

The past week or so has been rather trying.  Corgan has been a terror starting at about 5:00 PM, to the point where she throws herself on the floor and throws a massive tantrum.  Wee.  Fun.  We think she would be starving, but she would be too picky to eat.  Then we would sit her at her table (because she won't use her highchair anymore), and fuss about where the chair was.

...when she used to sit at her table.

Then she would push the chair back, and try to stand and eat.  Then she would start wandering around.  Here's the kicker: we don't let her wander.  Food is to be eaten while sitting down.  Anytime she would get up, we would take her food away.  Crumple. Cry. Scream.

Finally she would eat enough food to get the hunger off, but not enough to fill her up.  This would then make her cranky for the rest of the night until we put her down at 7:00 PM.  Normally, this is the most laid back kiddo!  This was so out of her character.  What was going wrong?!?!

Well, last night I had a brainstorm...take away the &#*%#^ chair and tables! Duh!  I took everything upstairs after she went to bed the night before, and when we got home from day care yesterday she walked into the kitchen and it was gone.  She stood right where the table should have been.  She look around.  That was it.  I asked if she wanted dinner, and she walked straight to her highchair and asked, "Up!"  What a relief!

The rest of night was so great.  She had a good chunk of her food and most of her milk, then we had the most fun bath, then we played with her table and chairs on the loft, and then she went to bed without a fuss.  Simple solutions = good evenings.
